Voice disorders

Voice disorders occur when there is any alteration in voice production, whether caused by structural problems of the vocal folds or related structures, improper voice use, inflammation, benign or malignant lesions, or neurological conditions. They can affect voice quality, strength, stability, and even the ability to produce sound comfortably.

Persistent hoarseness, vocal fatigue while speaking, weak voice, voice breaks, effort to produce sound, a “strained” voice, or the sensation of something stuck in the throat are signs that should not be ignored. When these symptoms last longer than two weeks, a specialized evaluation is strongly recommended.
